The Oyo State former women councillors, under the aegis of the Ex-Female Councillors Forum of Late Gov. Ajimobi of 2018, have paid a visit to the wife of the former governor of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi.

Mrs Florence Ajimobi was the First Lady of Oyo State between 2011 and 2019, a period which saw the coming into office of numerous female councillors in the state when her late husband, Ex-governor Abiola Ajimobi, held the local government elections.

Delighted by their visit, Mrs Florence went on her Facebook page to share the news about the August visitation of the former female councillors.

She wrote, “I was honoured by the visit from the former Oyo State female councillors. We discussed strategies for APC’s progress and our collective empowerment.”

While praising her for her effort in their elections, one of the women leaders stated that it was by the effort of Mrs Florence that they were chosen as the standard bearers for the elections and were elected. She also stated that the opportunity she gave to them to serve as councillors has made three of them contest for the elections into the Oyo State House of Assembly.

One of the three persons is Hon. Oke-Aare Aina Aina, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Oluyole Local Government and one of the women leaders of the party in the country.

In the end, the ex-women councillors presented a meritorious award of excellence for Dr Florence Ajimobi.  She appreciated their visit and vowed to reinforce strategies for the progress of APC and their collective empowerment in the state.
